Museen zu Gast: Kastell Divitia – Teil des UNESCO-Welterbes Niedergermanischer Limes mit Dr. Thomas Otten und Sascha Ringling (Förderverein Historischer Park Deutz e. V.)

In the organizer's words:

One of the three new UNESCO World Heritage Sites of the Lower Germanic Limes in Cologne is located "Op d'r Schäl Sick": the late antique fort Divitia in the Deutz Historical Park. Built as a bridgehead fort, it was a strategically important defensive bulwark to protect the bridge to Roman Cologne, which was built at around the same time.

Dr. Thomas Otten, Director of MiQua, will talk to Sascha Ringling, Chairman of the Förderverein Historischer Park Deutz, about the special features of this military structure and explore the question of what can still be seen and experienced of the fort in today's cityscape.
