Museen zu Gast: LVR-Kulturhaus Landsynagoge Rödingen. Mit Dr. Christiane Twiehaus und Monika Grübel M.A

In the organizer's words:

There are two unique buildings to discover in the village of Rödingen (rural municipality of Titz, district of Düren): the former home of the Jewish Ullmann family and the former synagogue of the small rural community in the backyard. In 2009, the ensemble of buildings
was opened as the LVR-KULTURHAUS Landsynagoge Rödingen and has since conveyed various facets of Jewish life in the past and present. The synagogue was deliberately not reconstructed at a single point in time. Its entire history from 1841 to the present day is on display. There are also traces of its use as a workshop after 1934 and traces of the Second World War.

Monika Grübel, Judaist and employee of the LVR Institute for Regional Studies and Regional History, will present the LVR House of Culture. She conceived and set up the project and still oversees it today. Afterwards, she and Christiane Twiehaus will talk about Rhenish rural Judaism, mediation projects and successful and less successful reconstructions of synagogues.

The event starts at 4 pm and will be repeated at 6:30 pm. More information at synagoge-roedingen.lvr.de.
