Musikfest Berlin: BigBand und Orchester der Deutschen Oper Berlin
In the organizer's words:
Duke Ellington's name is almost synonymous with the sound of the big band era. To mark Ellington's 125th birthday and the 50th anniversary of his death - a double anniversary, as in the case of Charles Ives - the BigBand of the Deutsche Oper Berlin is dedicating a tribute to him: in addition to his greatest hits, there will be the world premiere of the suite "The Famous Duke" by Manfred Honetschläger.
