Musikfest Berlin: Staatskapelle Berlin

Music that knows death but wants to grasp the value of life is encountered in this program by the Staatskapelle Berlin under Susanna Mälkki. Gustav Mahler's "Lied von der Erde" was composed immediately after the death of his daughter. "Hush" is the last completed work by Kaija Saariaho, whose premiere the composer did not live to see.
