Musikfestival: Gabriela Montero - Charlie Chaplins „The Immigrant“

In the organizer's words:

In 2018, Gabriela Montero received the Heidelberger Frühling Music Prize for her passionate commitment as a music mediator, social bridge builder and for her great improvisations. As a guest artist at the "Frühling", she is always warmly welcomed by her audience. But the Venezuelan, who has lived far away from her crisis-ridden homeland for many years, knows being a stranger only too well and has dedicated a recital to this feeling. The works of three Russians can be heard, whose biographies were also shaped by a life in exile: the grotesque laughter of Prokofiev, the sober musical language of Stravinsky and the music of the misunderstood Rachmaninov, whose melodies were all too often sold off. They lead into the Chaplin silent film "The Immigrant", to which Montero will improvise live.

The concert ends with a live improvisation to the silent film "The Immigrant" by Charlie Chaplin.

This will be followed by an artist talk with Anselm Cybinski in the festival center.
