Neun Jahre Rechenzentrum: VolleRZukunft

In the organizer's words:

Nine years of the computer center: a full future

The conversion of an administrative building from the early 1970s into a socio-creative place of culture, participation, encounters and exchange began in 2015.

With 210 fully rented rooms on 5,000 m² of usable space and over 340 users with fixed-term contracts, the data center is full: full of diversity, full of life, full of questions, full of hope, full of change and full of ideas for the future.

We celebrate the ongoing transformation 17 months before the third potential end of use at the beginning of 2026 and present the exhibition futuRZwei for a data center that will be preserved for the long term.

We look at uncertainties, complexities and the future.

You are invited to the joint exhibition Multivalenz, the cosmos concert with WHAT ARE PEOPLE FOR, a documentary film about a same-sex parental wish and activism, inclusive food and games, the inauguration of a new mosaic wall and much more.

Free admission unless otherwise noted.

In addition to all the difficulties, the film also shows the loving, interpersonal stories in their commitment to social change.

Supporting film: "From demolition site to creative cosmos" | 2016 | 15 min. | by Kristina Tschesch and Elias Franke

The short documentary tells of the conquest of the data center from the beginning of 2014 to the end of 2015 and of an already historic part of Potsdam's urban development and joint effectiveness.

Since 1972, the computer center has been adorned with an 18-part glass mosaic by Fritz Eisel, which praises the socialist belief in progress. This tour with Anja Engel begins with insights into the imagery and the condition of the listed mosaic. In the second part, it leads to a 5-part mural that was created on the building in summer 2024. Jim Avignon has ironically commented on visions of the future from the past and present based on the work of art, which is over 50 years old.
