The horse-headed violin ensemble "Sonor" is a guest at the Nordstadt Session. Founded two years ago under the direction of musician Zolzaya Boldbaatar as a project of the "Soyol" weekend school of the "Deutsch-Mongolisches Tor in NRW" association in Düsseldorf, the ensemble now consists of over 10 children and 6 adults, all of whom share a great passion for music.
Their focus is on Mongolian music, mainly using the horse-headed violin (morin khuur), a traditional instrument with only two strings. This time, the ensemble presents well-known works from the Mongolian musical tradition.
A special highlight is the accompaniment of the ensemble by Zaya M., the newly crowned winner of the international pianist competition in Ulaanbaatar. In addition, Mongolian dancers will enrich the event and offer the audience an unforgettable experience.
The last Nordstadt session of the year in the "Gazino 103" program begins at 6 pm with an awareness workshop for beginners with Kathy / Blend Bazar and Syrian-style soul food with Muhammed and Ibraheem. The opener concert will be livestreamed from 7 pm: www.facebook.com/ChancenRaum103, followed by an open jam session. Bring your instrument and join in!
