Koffi is obsessed. At least that's what his family believes, which is why they call him Zabolo, sign of the devil. After many years, he returns to his birthplace in the Congo for the first time, where he was ostracized for years. Koffi wants to get the family's blessing for his marriage to Alice, with whom he lives in Belgium. But the old animosities are still palpable, with only his sister Tshala being critical of the collective superstition. Koffi wants to understand the reasons for his ostracism and discovers a family secret in the process. And then there is Paco, a boy from a street gang whose fate seems to be linked to Koffi's life.

In his multi-award-winning feature film debut, musician and filmmaker Baloji vividly explores the extent to which superstition and prejudice can influence the fate of people across generations and genders. In the process, he creates a visually extraordinary work of magical realism, full of unforgettable images.
