What connects India and Oman?
Many Indians live in Oman and there is a lively cultural exchange due to the religious and cultural ties that have developed through centuries of trade. Spices, incense and textiles were already being traded in ancient times. Mascat played an important role as a port city.
Several trips through India and Oman with many encounters and events, thousands of photos and hundreds of videos on the hard disk, finally two films and an exhibition... The challenge of a photographer.
How can I incorporate my experiences and impressions into this exhibition? What will the viewers of the photos feel? I have often asked myself these questions. What remains are selections and the stories I can tell about them. When selecting the photos of India, the focus is on the architecture, urban spaces and everyday occurrences in the different regions and cities of the subcontinent.
The photos from Oman concentrate on landscapes in Musandam and the Jebel Sham mountains.
As part of the exhibition, two films (photo-video collages) about India and Oman will be shown on a separate film evening.
