Seven minutes is not much to describe a place, an artist collective, an art space or a community, but that is precisely the appeal of Pecha Kucha. In short visual presentations, artists and initiatives give an insight into their spaces and working methods. Pecha Kucha is not only entertaining and informative, it also creates a space for artists and audiences to meet, talk, ask questions, share anecdotes and exchange ideas. What role do self-organized spaces such as MUDA Africa or MERVKI Republic play in the Tanzanian art and culture scene? What stories, communities and visions do they harbor? And how safe are they?
