Performance BELLA

In the organizer's words:

The performance BELLA by Daniel Dominguez Teruel connects Heidelberg's tourist mile with BELLA PARK. A boisterous place that is not intended as a tourist attraction. On the contrary. Far from the tourist hotspot of Heidelberg's old town, some would prefer it to disappear and with it all those people who are not welcome on a "romantic" postcard motif as a reminder of Heidelberg.

Accompanied by musical interventions, an eight-metre tall, poisonous green pigeon sculpture is carried in procession from Karlstor through Heidelberg's Old Town to BELLA PARK. It poses from one postcard motif to the next.

Tourists admire ruins, pigeons inhabit them. Both tourists and pigeons are magnetically attracted to these ruins, the eternal postcard motifs of Heidelberg. Pigeons follow their instincts, tourists follow Google Maps. Pigeons bring droppings, tourists bring money.

From the end of November 2024, the Völkerkundemuseum invites BELLA to the Völkerkunde-Museum to continue telling their story(s) in conjunction with the exhibition "Animal Companions, Fantastic Creatures". On selected bar evenings, BELLA creates a space in the museum for conversations that only take place at the bar.
