We roll out the golden carpet - for all slam poets and their texts!
Words that you won't forget. Poets who inspire. An insane metaphor that makes you shake your head in awe. That one bad gag that makes you giggle. That one crazy thought that won't let you go.

At a poetry slam, every night is different. We don't know what will happen today, we just know - you shouldn't miss it!

Since 1997, poets from all over the German-speaking world have been coming to Düsseldorf to compete on this stage. The Poesieschlacht is home to lively stage literature - whether read or memorized, poetry or prose, anything that inspires the audience is allowed here.

Only three rules apply at the poetry slam:
1. all texts are self-written,
2. no longer than 6 minutes and
3. no props or music are used.

The text and performance are judged by an audience jury, which is selected anew each evening.

At the end, the entire audience decides with frenetic applause who gets to stand under the confetti cannon and wins the poetry battle.
Markim Pause has already shaken the winning champagne. Aylin Celik goes over the carpet again with the lint roller. The microphone is on, the spotlights are on.
