In short: Pothead is a traditional rock trio consisting of drums, bass and guitar. No frills. Just songs with groove, often melodic, sometimes hard, never melodic hard rock. Pothead are currently working on the project 15/30, which refers to some milestones in the band's history.
How it all began
30. thirty years ago, in 1991, Jeff and Brad set foot on European soil for the first time. They were traveling around in search of something new. The two musicians had met in the late 80s, as members of different bands in Seattle. Jeff was the bass player in the band "The East and The West", Brad was the guitarist in "Son of Man". Together they played many shows in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. A friendship developed from the competitive situation.
So of course it didn't take long for the two of them to start jamming. They decided to record some of their favorite tracks. In the summer of 1991, they spent eight hours in the renowned studio at Reciprocal Recording in Seattle, where bands such as TAD Mudhoney and Nirvana had already recorded their songs. The result was a demo tape called"Pothead". They produced fifty cassettes with the recordings, which they brought to the people during their trip to Europe.
Now, thirty years later, these recordings are available for the first time on CD with the original artwork.
In early 1992, the band had arrived in Berlin shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Pothead went into a basement studio to record more songs that they had developed during their tours in Germany and Europe. The result: the band's first album"Pothead USA". The title was self-evident, as the clubs almost invariably referred to the band's origins on their concert posters.
"Pothead USA" will be re-released this winter, thirty years after its initial release.
15 Fifteen years later, Jeff and Brad are still working and touring with their band Pothead. In 2006, Pothead completed their 11th studio album "Chaudière" at their own Big Berries Studio in Berlin. The album was not released after the initial pressing. Fifteen years later, "Chaudière" has been remixed and remastered and is now available again on CD.
15/30 thus stands for the re-release of three sorely missed Pothead recordings- milestones in the band's history.
