Progetto Positano

In the organizer's words:

Jack Sheen & Ricardo Eizirik

At this portrait concert, ensemble mosaik presents works by two young composers that were created as part of the Progetto Positano scholarship program: Jack Sheen presents a site-specific performance installation. A fragile, teeming ecosystem that stands on a knife-edge between stillness and movement, in which the real-time decisions of the performers, the movement of the audience and the space itself become unpredictable forces on the music. Ricardo Eizirik deals with the physical and social perception of sound and creates an experiential space for experimental sound exploration.

Progetto Positano is a scholarship for young composers that was launched by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation in collaboration with ensemble mosaik in 2017: Each year, two scholarship holders are invited to live and work for a month at the Wilhelm Kempff Cultural Foundation's Casa Orfeo in Positano on the Italian Amalfi Coast. Following the residency in Italy, ensemble mosaik will present the works of the scholarship holders as part of a double portrait concert in Berlin. The first scholarship holder in 2017 was Johan Svensson, followed by Óscar Escudero, Andreas Eduardo Frank, Julia Mihály and Manuel Rodríguez-Valenzuela, Liisa Hirsch, Chris Swithinbank, Laura Bowler and Kaj Duncan David. In 2023, Georgia Koumará and Maja Bosnić received the scholarship.
