Repair-Café Forst

In the organizer's words:

The Emmaus Church usually hosts a Repair Café once a month (usually on the third Saturday) from 2 to 5 pm. At this event, a team of volunteers with technical expertise helps visitors to repair defective devices and objects. Tools and measuring equipment are available and can be used free of charge.

In addition to exciting repair cases, we are always happy to hear from people (especially those with specialist knowledge in electrical engineering/electronics) who are interested in joining us.

Spare parts may have to be paid for, otherwise this offer is free of charge; however, we are happy to receive a donation.

• It is about helping people to help themselves. We are not a "free repair service provider". Even if our help is free of charge for our guests, we are happy to receive a donation which will be used to purchase the necessary tools.
• Guests actively participate in the repair of their device within their means.
• As a rule, only one appliance can be repaired per guest.
• The following are repaired (examples) Household appliances such as vacuum cleaners, toasters, floor lamps, sewing machines etc. / consumer electronics: radios, CD players etc. / information technology: smartphones, cameras etc. / bicycles etc. / other electrical and electronic appliances / textile repairs.
• Large appliances such as washing machines, refrigerators, microwaves, televisions, PCs, laptops, cell phones, printers and fax machines are not repaired.
• Please bring accessories such as power cable, power supply unit, operating instructions and spare parts if necessary.
• As we have limited the number of workstations, we ask you to register in advance by email ( repaircafe-aachen-forst@ekir.de ), telephone (0241524821) or letter (drop off at Emmaus Church), stating which device is involved and what the problem/error is. Please also let us know your name and a contact option (e-mail address, telephone number). We will then inform you at what time we have scheduled you in. This arrangement avoids unnecessary waiting times for our guests, but you are also welcome to come without an appointment, although you will then have to reckon with waiting times, which you can spend in our café area with coffee, cake and pleasant conversation. However, we cannot guarantee that you will get your turn.
• You must accept and sign our limitation of liability, house rules and privacy policy before repairing anything.
• The Repair Café team consists exclusively of volunteers who do the work for this initiative "in front of and behind the scenes" in their free time. Please bear this in mind when making inquiries and other requests.
• Assistance outside of our premises in the Emmaus Church / outside of our public appointments (e.g. at your home) is generally not possible. If necessary, please contact other initiatives such as "Seniors helping Seniors" or a craft business with such requests.
