Anecdotes, scandals and wild stories: music journalist Christof Leim tells the best stories of noise and laughter from 100 years of rock'n'roll. It's about big stars and big songs, accidents and deaths, drugs, sex and superlatives. Christmassy, but not necessarily quiet.
How do Jon Bon Jovi and R2-D2 end up on a Christmas album? What does "White Christmas" have to do with the Vietnam War? How do the Canadian police use Nickelback's songs on drivers intoxicated with mulled wine? And how did "Last Christmas" actually come about?
Christof Leim also talks about his own experiences as a journalist, such as a momentous breakfast beer with Zakk Wylde and an S-Bahn chase with Rudolf Schenker. The audience learns bizarre and enigmatic, wacky and surprising things, expertly explained and presented with music.
Since 2018, the Rock Stories have performed in countless theaters, clubs and pubs throughout Germany, as well as at the Wacken Open Air and the Full Metal Cruise. You can imagine a Rock Stories show as a bar conversation between music freaks, where someone sits at the front and tells stories accompanied by pictures, songs and videos that we would want to talk about over a beer anyway. Rock Stories is not just a reading, but a spoken word event.
Christof Leim has been working as a journalist and musician for over 25 years. He was born almost at the same time as the Kiss debut and received his first guitar when Zakk Wylde was just joining Ozzy. Later he was editor-in-chief of Metal Hammer. He plays guitar with the dino-rockers Heavysaurus and has an unused but pretty diploma in physics hanging on his wall. Christof writes the "Zeitsprung" column with music stories from Universal Music, for which he also produces
produced a podcast about "Stories, Rock & Pop Culture". In February 2022, Riva-Verlag published the book: "101 Rock Stories: From AC/DC to Rammstein to ZZ Top - Anecdotes, Excesses and Wild Tales".
