Deciding like the fire department - "The 8-minute decision method" with Christian Emrich and Dominik Klein

Christian Emrich is a rescue engineer, spent 13 years with the Munich fire department and is now head of the Fire and Rescue Service Department at the Freiburg Regional Council. The operational tactics he developed are now used by almost all fire departments in Germany. Decisions have to be made in the event of fires, traffic accidents or major sporting events. In his book, he shows how this works and how it works. In Munich, Emrich was responsible for developing the operational concept for the 2021 European Championships and the Tactics department during the coronavirus pandemic, among other things.

When Christian Emrich is on a mission, he has to make decisions that, in the worst-case scenario, can mean the difference between life and death - and that have to be made within a very short space of time. In his book "The 8-minute decision-making method", he gives us an insight into the work of professional firefighters and shows us how we can also use the decision-making methods of firefighters in our everyday lives - whether in business or in our private lives. That is why world handball champion Dominik Klein also contributes insights from competitive sport, where it is also about assessing a situation in a few moments and at the same time preparing for the key moments later in the competition.

Together with Peter Felixberger, Program Managing Director of Murmann Verlag, Dominik Klein and Christian Emrich will provide insights into the world of strategic decision-making under time pressure - in the fire department, business and sport.

Christian Emrich is a rescue engineer and head of the Fire and Rescue Service Department at the Freiburg Regional Council. He has experienced and been responsible for numerous critical situations as an incident commander and as a member of the crisis management team at the Munich Fire Department.

Dominik Klein is handball world champion 2007, won the Champions League three times in his career and was German champion eight times. Today he is an energizer for handball, an ARD expert and passes on his experience as a keynote speaker, ambassador and founder of the non-profit Handballcampus Munich.
