How do you become a writer? Is it possible to make writing a profession? Can you make a living from it? And what kind of life will it be? Alongside his friend Karl Ove Knausgård, Tomas Espedal is one of Scandinavia's most important writers. He has made a name for himself throughout Europe with his ten-volume autobiographical project. Now, in his new work Lust, the Norwegian looks back on a long and extravagant life as an author and asks the big existential questions. Lust is both an autobiography and a bildungsroman, a book about reading and writing, about forgetting and remembering. Espedal remembers all kinds of things, and so he talks about reading trips and love affairs, about excesses and dry spells and about the literary industry and its shallows.
