FRG 2024, feature film, 84 min, FSK 12.
Directed by Narges Kalhor.
With: Baharak Abdolifard, Nima Nazarinia, Narges Kalhor, Thomas Sprekelsen.
Language: OmU (German, Farsi, English with German subtitles).
Narges Shahid Kalhor fled Iran as the daughter of a father loyal to the regime and lives in exile in Germany. Thoughts of her family accompany her every day, more than she would like: Her surname Shahid ties her to her great-grandfather, a martyr, and she should finally leave! Kalhor rejects the idea of a problem film about migration, mixing documentary, poetry and fiction, seriousness and comedy - and has been causing discussion since the Berlinale.
With the director and Leipzig-based poet Lara Rüter (amoretten in netzen), we discuss the freedom of art between dreams, myths and tangible politics, in cinema and beyond.
ENG: Narges Shahid Kalhor fled Iran as the daughter of a father who collaborated with the regime. Her family stays on her mind, sometimes more than she likes. Her name Shahid connects her to her great-grandfather, a martyr, and needs to go. With SHAHID Narges refuses a topical film on migration, but combines documentary, fiction and poetry, seriousness and humor.
With the director and the Leipzig-based poet Lara Rüter (amoretten in netzen) we discuss the freedom of art between dreams, myths and concrete politics, in cinema and beyond.
