Our concern:
Draw attention! Female readers often experience that their pain or other disturbing sensations are not taken seriously by medical professionals. The disparity in the recognition of pain between women and men has a name: the gender pain gap. Especially when pain occurs during menstruation, it is still taboo and normalized. Endometriosis sufferers, for example, only receive a diagnosis after an average of seven and a half years. Statistics on how BIPoC with menstrual pain fare have not even been collected.
