The real estate boom in cities is leading to increasingly difficult living conditions for tenants. While high returns are being made on the one hand, rising rents, mold and displacement are part of everyday life for many people.

The film "Sold-City - When housing becomes a commodity" is the first part of a two-part series. It shows how corporations are pushing into the housing market and the consequences of the real estate boom for tenants. While high returns are being made on the one hand, rising rents, mold and displacement are part of everyday life for many people. The film accompanies tenants in Berlin, Hamburg and London who are affected by the rent craze and gives a voice to experts who describe how capitalist conditions have become increasingly prevalent on the housing market. However, the film also shows that many tenants are fighting back, joining forces and organizing resistance in different ways.
