The award-winning documentary "Väter Unser" (2021) by Sophie Linnenbaum is about fathers. Disappeared and found ones. Silent and roaring ones. Cuddling and sneezing. And their children, who tell their stories. Ali, Dela, Jonas, Nadine, Sabrina and Thanh talk about their fathers. About paternal love and the love of a father. Or the father figure? In her documentary, Linnenbaum explores the question of the nature of fathers and what they mean to us.
We are showing the 76-minute documentary in the original German with English subtitles. The screening will be followed by a short Q&A with the director.
The proceeds from the evening will be used to financially support a queer, migrant person with the funeral of her father. The social welfare office will not cover the costs and contacting other family members is potentially dangerous.
