What makes a good song? The hook? The voice? The lyrics? It's the mix that makes it - and not least what can't be generated by AI: Authenticity. For the first time, the Nikolaisaal is hosting a singer-songwriter night, bringing together three acts around a shared campfire that combine all of this and showcase the fascinating range of the genre. The evening will be hosted by Max Mutzke, the specialist for strong songs with heart and soul - not without giving a few samples himself, of course.
In her native Switzerland, she is already a celebrated great - in this country, however, she is still almost an insider tip: Tiffany Athena Limacher alias To Athena. She has been writing songs since she was 15 and creates a mysterious cosmos of melancholy, irony and inscrutability with her chamber pop. She dances - sometimes singing in Swiss German, sometimes in English - between worlds and slips into very different roles in her own movie.
Within a very short space of time, the singer and guitarist Nicklas Sahl has gone from newcomer to star in his native Denmark. And you can safely bet that the 27-year-old high-flyer with the amazing voice will also win a large fan base in this country in no time at all. Nicklas Sahl writes and performs pop songs that go straight to the heart and lodge themselves permanently in the ear - a gift he shares with his declared role model Paul Simon.
IntroducingTeresa Bergman to Potsdam would be like taking Kiwis to Wellington. The Berliner-by-choice from New Zealand has often given acclaimed performances in the Nikolaisaal - most recently in 2023 with the Babelsberg Film Orchestra. Audiences love her for her very personal and intense songs, her special sense of humor - and a voice that's so beautiful you can kneel down.
