Soul Explosion

Since 2000, the Soul Explosion chased like a tornado of vinyl records through the clubs of the city...... until Corona sent the Soul Explosion into pandemic sleep for two years. After two great events in the fall, it's finally back at the private club! We are looking forward like crazy! Berlin based Dj King Dynamite will throw his highly explosive discs of the golden funky soul era between 1966 and '76 on the turntables and bring the typical and legendary sound of Soul Explosion to the club with deep funk and boogaloo. From more or less unknown, rediscovered and rare discs, mostly 45s, King Dynamite crafts a set that regularly knots the dance legs of the audience and makes the dance sweat run over the twitching bodies.

Soul Explosion was founded in 2000 by Frank (Dj Soulpusher) in Berlin. The party quickly became the biggest soul and funky soul party at Club Pavillon and was soon held 2 times a month. In 2005 Frank moved to Guinea (Africa) and handed over the party to his old friend Mark. In the next years Mark (Dj King Dynamite) developed the party further and organized it in Stuttgart Hamburg and in other irregular intervals in smaller German cities. The success was enormous, especially in Stuttgart. In 2010 the party moved to the bigger Festsaal Kreuzberg in Berlin and up to 1000 guests danced like crazy to the rough but fresh funky soul and boogaloo sound of the years 1966 - 74. The Festsaal Kreuzberg succumbed to a fire 3 years later and the Soul Explosion was forced to move on. Today the party takes place in changing locations. From September 1, 2018 every first Saturday of the month at Privatclub.

Dj King Dynamite started collecting vinyl records in 1998 and quickly specialized in funky soul, deep funk and boogaloo. The idea of Soul Explosion is to make the party as original as possible, a trip to the late 60s and early 70s. King Dynamite puts on only original records, almost exclusively 45s (singles) from 1966 - 74 and EVERY single song has to be 100% and of course every record has to set the dance floor on fire.

"Funk" or funky soul developed in the middle of the 60's from Jazz, R & B and Soul and was not only played by the Scene greats of the time like James Brown or Rufus Thomas. In fact, a very vital and virtuosic local scene developed in almost every major American city with an African-American population. Few became nationally known and often the bands played in the jazz clubs of the cities or simply on the street. This explains why there are only a few recordings or releases from many bands and some could only release 2-3 singles in small pressings. Boogaloo originated from a cross between soul/funk and traditional Caribbean music and was played by the increasing number of Latin American immigrants, mainly in New York.

Of course, we always dig up "new" and of course the best and rarest records and present them at the Soul Explosion to the appreciative audience. Since 18 years the Soul Explosion takes place in Berlin and thus forms a club phenomenon away from all short-lived trends! Here is guaranteed that no dance leg remains still and no shirt dry !!!!
