Last year, we hosted "Resonanzen" at lesen.hören - a festival for Black German-language literature. This year we have invited the Belgrade festival "KROKODIL I Engaging Words" for a great evening on the voices of Balkan literatures. Since the 1990s and the terrible Yugoslav wars, these literatures have also become better known in Germany and have since produced dazzling, furiously sharp-witted and ravishingly funny, very special and at the same time truly world-literary works. So it's high time for a revue of Balkan literature!
At 6:30 pm in the café | bar of the Alte Feuerwache, KROKODIL will talk about cultural work in Belgrade, which is currently under extreme pressure from authoritarian, including Russian, influences. At 8 pm, presenter Mima Simić opens the stage event: with specially designed visuals and in conversation about the free spaces of art with Rumena Bužarovska from North Macedonia, Damir Karakaš from Croatia, Goran Vojnović from Slovenia and Adelina Tërshani from Kosovo. All four authors will read from their works, some of which have also been translated into German. Singer-songwriter Ana Ćurčin will provide the musical highlight.
Conversations in English, readings in OmU
