Robert Habeck (Alliance 90/The Greens) has been Economics Minister and Vice-Chancellor since 2021. Alongside Chancellor Scholz, he is one of the most visible but also most controversial representatives of the current federal government. The 55-year-old is standing as his party's candidate for chancellor in the new elections in February. Habeck was a writer before entering politics. He began his political career as a minister in Schleswig-Holstein, among other things, before being elected Green Party leader together with Annalena Baerbock in 2018.
