Berlin is the capital of club and subcultures, where dreams of freedom and creativity can come to life. But these free spaces are threatened by gentrification, unaffordable rents and a lack of space, and local and global crises make it difficult to have a sustainable vision for the future of club culture.

In an increasingly polarized present, however, it remains a diverse place of refuge, community and confidence where new worlds are being created. How can we remain bold, initiate change and transcend genres, boundaries and norms? How do we create places of strength, calm and connection? How can club culture give hope in challenging, chaotic times?

In its fifth edition in 2024, the DAY OF CLUB CULTURE will once again honor the special commitment of Berlin's club culture. 40 clubs and collectives will once again be honored for their special cultural work and the programs, spaces and communities they create within Berlin's club culture.

For the first time this year, three newcomer prizes and an honorary prize for particularly committed personalities in Berlin's club culture will be awarded. All award-winning and interested clubs and collectives will present their own events throughout Berlin as part of the interdisciplinary club culture festival week from October 3 to 10, 2024.

The DAY OF CLUB CULTURE was launched in 2020 by the Clubcommission, the Senate Department for Culture and Europe and Musicboard Berlin. It is now supported by the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion and Musicboard Berlin. Originally conceived as a sign of life for Berlin clubs in times when their existence was under threat, the DAY OF CLUB CULTURE has since developed into an established cultural award and festival that annually honors the cultural and artistic commitment of Berlin clubs and collectives.
