TaKeTiNa® rhythm pedagogy combines thousands of years of "rhythm knowledge" from various cultures with the latest findings from the fields of music, cybernetics, communication, brain research and chaos theory to create a new form of learning and self-awareness. In the TaKeTiNa process, the body itself is the instrument. Using the voice, clapping and step movements, participants are guided simultaneously into three different levels of rhythm. The step level is stabilized by the pulse of a bass drum, while the clapping builds up contrasting rhythms. The third level is a call-response chant, accompanied by the Brazilian berimbau, which sometimes stabilizes the steps, sometimes the hand level, but also illuminates energy points in the spaces in between and offbeats. Alternating between stabilization and destabilization, this creates groove and chaos phases in which individual participants fall out of the rhythm, while the groove continues to unfold through the group, allowing them to effortlessly rejoin at any time. Controlling thinking is consciously undermined, the inner critic comes to rest, intuition takes over and the participants land in the here and now, where presence and pure joie de vivre emerge.

In the rhythm circle, musicians and people with no previous musical experience can learn together in their own time and even enrich each other in the process. For example, you can leave out one level at any time or disconnect and stay connected while lying down, sitting, walking or dancing. In TaKeTiNa, musical learning is always also a human learning process. That which hinders our lives is reflected in it as a musical-rhythmic problem and can be transformed through rhythmic-musical work.
