At the end of the last century, old Professor Abronsius and his young adlat Alfred travel to wintry Transylvania to get to the bottom of the vampire myth. In a lonely settlement in the mountains, they happen to witness how the neighboring Count Krokow brute forcefully asserts his right to the first night with the beautiful daughter of the local innkeeper. Without hesitation, Abronsius and Alfred, who is already head over heels in love, pick up the trail of the kidnapped woman and arrive at Krokow's estate just in time for a grand ball.
