"If music is food for the soul, then theBellRays are Thanksgiving and they know how to cook.

Lisa Kekaula & Bob Vennum started theBellRays in 1990 in California. They wanted to play music and they wanted it to feel good. They wanted people to want to get up and see what was going on, yes, to HAVE to get up and react. So they took everything they knew: The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, TheWho, the Ramones, Billie Holiday, Lou Rawls, Hank Williams, The DB's, Jimmy Reed and Led Zeppelin - just to name a few for whom the same applies: blues is the teacher. Yes, and punk is the preacher. It's about emotion and energy. Experience and raw talent, spirit and intellect. When these things come together, exciting things happen. The Beatles wanted to play R&B, transformed that energy and invented "rubber soul". The Ramones tried to be Del Shannon or Neil Sedaka, and out came "Rocket to Russia". In that good spirit, theBellRays keep going.
