toechter + Philipp Johann Thimm – präsentiert von Rausgegangen

In the organizer's words:

toechter operate at the interface between experimental pop and electronics, creating electronic beats and soundscapes by manipulating the sounds of acoustic string instruments (violin, viola, cello). However, this strict guideline in the production process - which applies both in the studio and on stage - does not result in any conceptual overhang, on the contrary: toechter's feel for melodies and sensitively designed soundscapes is at least as pronounced as their desire for abstraction. After toechter's debut album Zephyr has already been awarded the German Record Critics' Prize, the album Epic Wonder will now follow, which will be released in February 2024 on the Berlin label Morr Music.

Philipp Johann Thimm has worked as a multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer on various projects over the past ten years, such as with the indie pop band Abby, as a guest musician on albums by various artists, his ongoing collaboration with Sascha Ring aka Apparat (in 2019 they were nominated for a Grammy in the "Best Electronic Album" category together with Apparat's LP5), various theater projects, music for art installations and soundtracking for large and small screens. In 2023, Thimm released his solo debut album Birds Singing Till The World Ends - a fascinating collage of the sounds of acoustic instruments, abstract noise and electronic sounds.
