The particular grain powerful and warm voice of Kazakh-Turkish-Swiss singer Saadet Türköz meets Anaïs Tuerlinckx’ very extended and noisy piano. Two powerful improvisers, each with their very own, unique approach, share a moment of profound rêveries and thrilling tension.
Didi Kern, Susanna Gartmayer and Thomas Berghammer first met in 2006 at the Monday session (initiated by American musician Marco Eneidi) at Celeste in Vienna. Their first concert as a trio followed in 2007. For many years, the three appeared under the moniker KGB, but since their latest release Fulufulu Paupepa Paupapa in summer 2023, the trio operates under the acronym GBK (GLEICHBEHANDLUNGSKOMMISSION).
What the three instrumentalists have in common is the interplay with assigned roles in the band structure, as well as the joy in stylistic openness. The focus is as much on experimenting with abstract sounds as on driving grooves and catchy melodies from all directions.
The three musicians have been collaboratively leading the Monday session at Celeste since 2015. The intensive exchange on musical forms and improvisation continues in these roles.
