The poetry slam championships of the new generation
From October 2 to 5, 2024, the international festival for young word art, literature and performance will take place at GRIPS|Podewil in Berlin.
The summit meeting of young stage literature is held in a different city every year. In 2024, the festival will finally return to Berlin after ten years. 60 young voices from Germany, Austria and Switzerland will travel here to compete against each other. There will be six preliminary rounds, two semi-finals and a grand final. The opening event on October 2 will be a battle of the generations, in which under-20 poets will compete against over-20s at the microphone. The U20 Poetry Slam Championships are the annual highlight of the poetry slam scene.

Before the actual championship kicks off, there will be a celebration: The new generation challenges well-known names from the German-language poetry slam to a battle. Among them: Bas Böttcher, Kirsten Fuchs, Eva Matz, Aidin Halimi. Taking part as U20 poets: Arnold Pretzlaw, Sarah Weiß, Fiete Teschner and Anna Hermsdorf.

October 3, 2024, day one | four preliminary rounds, one goal! | GRIPS Hansaplatz & GRIPS Podewil
Diversity on the Day of Unity! 40 slam poets will compete in 4 preliminary rounds for a place in the semi-finals. It starts at 6 pm and 8 pm! The four preliminary rounds will take place in parallel at the GRIPS Theater and the Podewil. Ticket sales have just started. For each preliminary round: ten voices, ten texts, one stage. - The audience is the jury. - You can decide who goes through!

October 4, 2024, day two | Paths to Fame | GRIPS Hansaplatz & GRIPS Podewil
At 6 pm, more voices from Germany, Austria and Switzerland will compete to reach the semi-finals of the u20 Poetry Slam Championships. 20 poets will have the last chance to qualify. From Zurich to Berlin, from Cologne to Vienna, all the performers have already proven their verbal repartee. The audience can now play goddess of destiny and help decide who moves on to the semi-finals. 8 p.m. The first stage to the final has been mastered! Whoever has made it through the preliminary round can now enchant the audience in the semi-final. Ten chosen ones will compete against each other on Friday evening at 8pm in the GRIPS Theater am Hansaplatz and at the same time in Podewil. The road to the final is paved with words! Eyes open and through! This is about the final qualification for the final.

October 5, 2024, day three | the showdown! | GRIPS Hansaplatz
8 pm GRIPS Theater am Hansaplatz: Finaaaaaaaale!!! - The next generation rocks here! Ten out of sixty u20-Slam starters from Austria, Germany and Switzerland face the acid test! The audience will decide who takes home the crown.
