in English, German and Kiswahili
"Serengeti must not die!" - Grzimek's film and its message still shape West Germany's image of Africa today. In "Ultimate Safari", Flinn Works (Berlin) and Asedeva (Dar es Salaam) take a 360° look at animal welfare and tourism in African countries. National parks and the protection of wild animals are widely regarded as unreservedly good achievements. However, their origins lie in violent colonial appropriation. Safari tourism is the main source of income for many African countries, while at the same time most national parks exclude the local population and thus deprive them of their livelihoods. The ensemble of Tanzanian and German performers and changing experts guide the audience through the multi-perspective journey as safari guides. Alternating between performance, lecture and immersive 360° film scenes with virtual reality glasses, "Ultimate Safari" develops into the last carefree journey into the abysmal world of wildlife conservation.
