In the organizer's words:

20 years after the artist, author and performer Vaginal Davis moved from Los Angeles to Berlin, the Gropius Bau is showing the first comprehensive solo exhibition of her work in Germany. Her groundbreaking work combines punk and glamor, queer activism and black counterculture as well as resistance and desire.

Vaginal Davis: Fabulous Product brings together large-scale installations, paintings, video and film works, zines, texts, music and performance and offers a comprehensive overview of Davis' multi-layered practice and her artistic collaborations. The installation Choose Mutation by the CHEAP collective (Vaginal Davis, Daniel Hendrickson, Susanne Sachsse, Marc Siegel and guests), with photographs by Annette Frick, will be shown as part of the exhibition. Fabulous product invites you into the universe of Vaginal Davis, which is inhabited by literary heroines, mythical figures and real icons.
