In the organizer's words:
Vernissage on Thursday, January 30, 7 pm
How is Berlin changing? Which people are affected by displacement? And who is making money from it? What does protest against gentrification look like? Many questions, some of which we will shed light on for you in ten reports in our photo exhibition "Are you still living?".
The program:
- At our exhibition opening, you can expect a welcome from experienced photojournalist Ann-Christine Jansson, under whose direction the reportage photography course developed the exhibition. The ten photographers - from amateurs to professionals - have immersed themselves in very different realities of life in Berlin: From the unscrupulous business model with the housing shortage and a real estate industry in search of super returns and big deals, to apartment buildings threatened with demolition, from a Lichtenberg community project to Kreuzberg dogs and Neukölln bones, from the transformation of a Wedding shopping street to a queer house project in Prenzlauer Berg to the uncertain future of a Neukölln film school.
- Afterwards, Florian Schmidt, city councillor for construction in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, will share his perspective on the topic of displacement and talk about his diverse experiences and ideas.
- This will be followed by a relaxed exchange with the photographers as they walk through the gallery.
- Last but not least, a catalog will also be published, which you can view on site, for example with a cool drink or snack ;)
Come in large numbers!
We are already looking forward to exchanging ideas with you!
PS: A panel discussion "What to do against housing shortage and displacement?" will take place on another date: Wednesday, 5.2.2025, 7 pm! The guests will be announced.
Where will it all take place?
