Bradley Simpson: Alone on a new musical journey

In the world of British pop-rock music, Bradley Simpson has long been a household name. As lead singer of the successful band The Vamps, he brought arenas around the world to their feet with his rousing performances and attracted a great deal of attention with the band's debut album. But now, after more than ten years of collective success, Bradley is embarking on a new chapter of his musical journey, touring as a solo artist for the first time. The idea of working on a solo project came about two years earlier. Bradley had written a few songs that were too personal to be anything other than solo songs: intimate, diary-like snapshots of very personal experiences, rich with precise details that could only be written down after they had been lived through. Bradley's first solo single "Cry At The Moon", which saw the light of day about a month ago, set the standard for what was to follow. "That was the catalyst for the whole project," recalls the 28-year-old. "I knew I wanted to delve into the last ten years and talk about things I hadn't written about before, be it personal things or relationships. In a way, it was kind of like therapy because there were a lot of ups and downs during that time." As an artist who has headlined the impressive O2 Arena in London several times in front of 20 thousand people, Bradley Simpson's first solo show at the 100 Club, also in London, was a completely new experience. "I was quite nervous because it was my first step as a solo artist," he admits. "I was aware that it would be a completely different show and experience to what they had seen before." However, the lively response from his audience quickly dispelled any nervousness, especially on the final night when numerous fans were already singing along to the lyrics of several songs by heart. "That last night I thought, 'How do you know the words? It was crazy.". After his only solo performance in Germany to date was completely sold out at the end of May, his fans will now have another chance to see Bradley Simpson live in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich or Cologne in the fall.
