Heine's life in France from 1831 onwards is closely linked to the city of Paris. It is often forgotten that the poet made regular trips to the French vacation regions until the beginning of the "Matrazengruft" in spring 1848. From Provence to the Pyrenees, Heine explored the French cities and landscapes on extended recreational trips. The poet wrote about his numerous forays and spa stays in a variety of literary works. The guided tour traces Heine's footsteps in France and illustrates the associated travelogues.
