Welthits auf Hessisch

In the organizer's words:

Have you ever wondered what Michael Jackson, Britney Spears and Elivs Presley would sound like if they had sung in Hessian? No, you haven't. That's why Tilman Birr and Elis asked themselves this question for you. You wouldn't have thought of it on your own anyway. Birr and Elis, actually members of the Frankfurt "Lesebühne Ihres Vertrauens", have taken on the linguistically demanding task of translating the most important world hits of the last 60 years from English, the language of warning notices and airport announcements, into the language of poetry and grace, Hessian.

Now they sing Miley Cyrus' "Abrissbern", Rihanna's "Reschescherm" or Britney Spears' "Schlaach misch, Mädsche, nochema" with bass, guitar and zwo maa vocals. And until you think: "Help us! I need someone" (Lennon/McCartney). "Welthits auf Hessisch" is a project by Frankfurt musicians Tilman Birr and Elis. With bass and guitar, they play world hits from the last sixty years, which they have translated from the mostly English original into Hessian. So Michael Jackson's "Bad" becomes the Hessian version "Bös", the Rihanna hit "Umbrella" becomes the ballad "Reschescherm". This is what global hits would sound like if all pop music came from Hesse (which, to be honest, it actually does).
