Art exhibition: "When war intervenes in life"

From August 31 to September 14, 2024, the cities of Cologne and Dnipro are hosting an extraordinary exhibition. Sculptures and graphics by the renowned avant-garde artist Vadym Sidur will be on display under the title "When war intervenes in life".

Vadym Sidur, born in Dnipro (formerly Katerynoslav) in 1924, dealt with the deep wounds of war in his art. During the Second World War, he was seriously injured by a shot from a German machine gun, which left a lasting impression on him and had a decisive influence on his work. His sculptures are haunting testimonies to the war, imbued with a power that is both painful and life-affirming. Today, Sidur's work is mentioned in the same breath as greats such as Henry Moore and Alberto Giacometti.

The exhibition, which is taking place as part of the "Dnipro Days" on the occasion of his 100th birthday, is the result of an intensive collaboration between Dnipro and Cologne. Take the opportunity to discover these important works of art and let the story they tell sink in.
