Since the country's largest protests against Lukashenko's rigged election in 2020, a dangerous climate of persecution has prevailed in Belarus. Many activists are subject to arrests and repression. Many flee into exile. The documentary follows three extraordinary women who are standing up to the dictatorship: 74-year-old Nina, a symbolic figure of the resistance; Tanya, founder of the renowned human rights film festival "Watch Docs", and human rights activist Darya from the Human Rights Center Viasna. Director Juliane Tutein shows us not only the courage and determination of the activists, but also the oppression and violence with which they and their fellow activists are confronted on a daily basis in Belarus.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with the director Juliane Tutein and a human rights activist.

The event is being held in cooperation with the Peaceful Revolution and Civil Rights Academy Foundation of the Leipzig Adult Education Center as part of the series Conflict:ed - How can we preserve freedom and democracy? The project is funded by the Demokratie Leben! program of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, the City of Leipzig and the Free State of Saxony.
