Whether ecological destruction, growing social inequality or the limits of growth - the crises of our time demand new answers. Is a good life possible without growth? And what does prosperity based on renunciation look like? Niko Paech, one of the leading figures in post-growth economics, questions the ideology of growth and discusses with Jascha Sommer how a consistent reduction in consumption, cooperative models of economic activity and a conscious use of resources could offer solutions. What forms of renunciation are necessary and how can this be perceived as a gain in quality of life? How far can we get with individual solutions? And is the post-growth economy more of a left-wing or conservative project?
With our discussion format "We need to talk", we want to challenge and redesign the theater as a place of radical imagination. The major crises of our time are coming thick and fast and demand courageous, unconventional answers. The format brings voices from various social fields to the stage in order to conduct controversial debates, build bridges and open up new perspectives. The dialog takes place in a temporary "kitchen for all" in the foyer of the FWT, which becomes a stage for encounters and exchange. Following the podium, a long table will invite people to eat together and discuss on an equal footing.
