Since its founding in 1977, the Freie Werkstatt Theater Köln (FWT) has been a permanent fixture in Cologne's independent theater scene. In addition to our own project developments, our artistic work focuses on the performance of contemporary drama. We go in search of new material and storytelling methods in order to be able - together with the audience - to offer our own answers and impulses, our own theatrical experience to the controversial questions of our time.
In addition to our own productions, the FWT is also a partner for independent groups with numerous co-productions and guest performances. Our concern is the opening of the house and the networking with theater artists and independent theaters in Cologne and beyond. At the same time, the FWT wants to be a place of public encounter and exchange.
