Guest performance by the theater company La Chouette Blanche from Montpellier

A young woman stands before you, you are her guest, in the theater that she cleans every day. An old chapel in the heart of a city that holds as many memories as stories, as many celebrations, as much joy as sadness. The words that ring out on the stage are her own. They carry their vision of the world and their longing for the other with strength and determination.

PINK! tells the story of Ornella, a young Sintezza who is firmly rooted in her community in the heart of the Gély district in Montpellier. Ornella, an actor with Romanian roots and a director who feels at home all over the world, meet in the theater. Together they try to write a story that attempts to overcome the difficulties of a potential encounter between different cultures.

Between fiction and reality, the play questions our prejudices and the construction of our identities. With sensitivity, humor and friction, it reveals new perspectives that have emerged from an artistic residency in the Gély district. The theater company La Chouette Blanche developed a sensitive relationship with the local Sinti community, especially the women, and the surprising and sometimes disturbing encounters gave rise to PINK! which premiered at the Jean Vilar Theater in Montpellier in 2022.
