The Gallery by M&C Saatchi is pleased to present works by Berlin-based artist Anni Heuchel. The exhibition entitled "Always Love" will take place from April 25 to 28, 2024. The series of works is dedicated to the theme under the premise that humanity has no uniform idea of love. Celebrating this fact, 16 works approach the subject in all its diversity.
The artist is inspired by a wide variety of teachings: Vladimir Jankélévitch believes that when we love, it is not because of an effort, but because we recognize and choose a beloved subject in its "selfhood". We do not have to question or edit it extensively
process it, because we already know what we need to know: We want it. Many of the images therefore flowed into strangely memorial-like and sacred forms. We also discover Plato's Spherical Man in the series, which stems from a tale according to which we humans once walked the earth as spherical beings until we angered Zeus too much and he punished us by now making us half-humans in need of supplementation in the eternal search for love.

However, since no philosophical theory can keep pace with the heartbeat, Heuchel's paintings also search for visual realities that can be perceived emotionally and intuitively. Logic has no place either in love or in art. So alongside the tranquillity of loving portraits, there are also feverish dream-like scenes and chaos. In the end, the exhibition takes a look at the light, the dark and the ambivalent side of love.
