Becoming who you are – Studium trotz Flucht

In the organizer's words:

Duration of the special exhibition: April 26 to October 13, 2024

Education strengthens, encourages and gives hope for a better future!
But especially for refugees who have to build a new life far from home, the chances of higher education are usually slim.
Who are these young people who have managed to realize their dream and go to university - despite having fled? What have they experienced and what drives them?

"Education helps you to become who you are," says Richesse. He had to flee from Burundi to Rwanda with his older brother and spent every day after his arrival in the library of a refugee camp.

Photographer Antoine Tardy took portraits of refugee students for the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and spoke to them. Twenty such stories are documented in the special exhibition, with the protagonists themselves also having their say.

You will get to know interesting personal stories in this exhibition. You are also invited to reflect on the importance of education in your own life.

Media and interactive stations also allow you to explore the topic of flight and education in greater depth.
