Dichtergarten für Musik – „Ein Musikus wollt fröhlich sein“

In the literary collection "Dichtergarten für Musik", Clara and Robert Schumann compiled poetic testimonies about music from antiquity to the present day. Now the Heine Institute and Schumann House once again invite you to an afternoon with pastries and coffee, piano music and recitation.

The afternoon will focus on texts from "Des Knaben Wunderhorn", a collection of folk songs published by Achim von Arnim and Clemens Brentano at the beginning of the 19th century, which contains over 700 love songs, wandering songs and children's songs. It was very popular with contemporaries and inspired numerous composers, including Robert Schumann and Gustav Mahler, to set it to music.

The songs, performed by Paula Götz and musically accompanied by Nare Karoyan and Judith Hoffmann, tell of cuckoos and nightingales, night musicians and journeymen.
