We cordially invite you all to an exhibition and project about childhood at SAVVY. We believe that it is important for children and young people to use their imagination and creativity without fear. When children have the opportunity to express themselves freely, they will share their unique stories and ideas. We know that growing up can be different depending on where you come from, where you live and the challenges of moving your family to a new country. Through this exhibition project for children and young adults, we hope to understand how young people experience their world and how they remember their past, reflect on their communities and imagine where they belong.
This project is an attempt to support young people to tell their stories, listen to and learn from them, honor their creativity and political and social engagement, and give them the space to explore important ideas in a way that is meaningful to them. Through fun and interactive activities such as drawing, storytelling, photography, karaoke, music and theater, children and youth have the opportunity to express themselves and explore their stories and dreams. We want this to be a space where children can share their joy, imagination and creativity with others to highlight their unique perspectives and create a space for solidarity, respect, care and relationships between different generations.
Long before the opening of the exhibition, we have been working with young people to create works that will be shown in the exhibition. We will continue to organize workshops with different groups of children who can always create something new, which will then also be included in the exhibition. Come and join in, everyone!
SAVVY is a place for community and culture. We started in Neukölln in 2009 and moved to Wedding in 2016. Our team of people from 20 different countries organizes cultural activities, such as exhibitions, lectures, concerts, screenings, book presentations, but also workshops and activities for children and young people. We organize community dinners, we listen to music and dance together. We have an open library. Our activities are free and open to everyone.
