In his book "Expanded Cinema", Gene Youngblood described Will Hindle's works as outstanding examples of "synaesthetic cinema". A cinema that does not tell stories in the conventional sense, but aims to enable an expanded perception, what Gene Youngblood calls an "oceanic consciousness". Before his death in 1987, Hindle made ten 16-mm films that captivate with complex optical techniques developed by himself and trace a journey from the personal to the timeless.
