The Neckar has had a decisive influence on Heilbronn's development - from early settlement to the present day. As a waterway for the transportation of goods, the river became the lifeline for the city's economic prosperity. Models ranging from rafts to motorboats illustrate the changes in transportation. Numerous media and experience stations invite visitors to explore the history of the city on the river.
Heilbronn also gained supra-regional importance through the production of silver and paper. A replica of Heilbronn's first paper machine shows the path from handmade paper to machine-made paper. Early Heilbronn paper manufacturers such as Johann Jakob Widmann and the Moriz and Adolf von Rauch brothers have their say in the radio play.
Silverware from the Bruckmann company was known far beyond Heilbronn. Their production combined art and craftsmanship. A "treasure trove" of embossing tools, an overview from the first draft to the mail order catalog or the silversmith's workshop show the many work steps to the finished product.
